Thursday, March 30, 2006 New Website Is Finally Up

After a whole week of hard work,'s new site is finally done and I am very proud of it. I am trying very hard to get lots of traffic for this website. I have optimize the website very carefully in hopes of getting multiple pages highly rank and listed on search engines.

Visit right now!

Earlier on, I just finish watching The Sweetest Thing followed by Barbershop 2: Back In Business and the Simply Life. The Sweetest Thing has to be one of the most funniest movie I have watched and Barbershop 2 was somewhat quite not what I expected it to be. The Simple Life with Nicole Ritchie and Paris is a joke but enjoyed the good laughs. Well, a tv marathon you might say but it is some sort of a reward for myself for my hardwork on completing the new website.

That's all the update for now, till next post. Take care...

Still awake and designing.

Well, it is 2.51 a.m. now and I am still designing’s new site which is due to be up by 1st April 2006. The whole site is written in PHP communicating with a MySQL database. The site is my best in terms of navigation and usability. It has very clean layout and less cluttered like the previous ones. Hopefully, more customers will enjoy the benefit of the new design.

Besides that, there will be price drops on a few destinations to an amazingly low 1.5p/min. Visit the new website to find out once it is launched!

On a separate note, I am planning to take my first MCSE module exam in two weeks. I haven’t registered for it yet but feel like doing so. Let’s see if it becomes a reality.

A Very Unique Tea

I received this a while ago but never took the effort to post it on my blog. Whatever it is, here you go!

The title of this post is exactly the subject of the e-mail when I received it. As curious as you were, I quickly browse through the e-mail. The pictures took a while to load but when they were done, it amazed me. I do not read chinese but I am convinced that this is a real product but whether it is safe to drink or not is questionable. If it is drinkable, who would want to since it is so pretty. I rather stare and admire it. Well, enough said, see the pictures for yourself.

Impressed? Well, if you are, return to the first two pictures, you will see that there is at least 4 different flowers according to the images shown on the four separate packets. One was a flower that we have clearly seen in this series of picture. Do send me those pics if you have them or share your thoughts about this as I am as curious as you are. Let me know if this is a hoax as well.

Video When I Was In Greece

Well, I was indeed fortunate enough to be there when the Eurocup 2004 was on. I was staying in my friends lovely house and witness the goal that brought the underdogs to the finals. There was a massive celebration and it felt like it was just yesterday. Time does fly, doesn't it.

I have always avoided such events because of the crowds but as I was being a tourist, I did not hesitate to participate. We drove into the city center of Athens where we parked the car two kilometres away before making the rest of the journey by foot. The good thing about Greeks are they know how to celebrate and when I mean celebrate, no one can ever be as loud as the Greeks. Drums were brought out and massive crowds sang and dance together.

It was indeed an experience of a lifetime that I will never forget. I certainly would not hesistate to return there again.

Malam Kung Fu USM

I was fortunate enough to attend the Malam Kung Fu (Kung Fu Evening) 2006 event in USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia). The Semarak (Flame) themed event organized by students of the Kung Fu club was celebrating it's 30th Anniversary.

Lion dance welcomed the audiences at the entrance of the crowded event. There were various performances throughout the night from the different martial arts team that made up the club from Chinese Drums, Shaolin, Wushu and Tai Chi. There were also guest performances by Tae-Kwon Do (I hold a Red Belt in Tae-Kwon Do) and Palepas (Military).

The opening show was very grand by the Chinese Drums team with elaborate costumes depicting the rich chinese cultural history similar to those worn in Chinese Operas. The whole show was accompanied by a story of an Emperor in the Shang Dynasty and how his careless leadership brought the dynasty to a fall.

The event was a major success and the tickets costs just RM 5.00 which was well worth it for a show that lasted about 4 hours with a lucky draw.

That's all for now and I am off to bed as I need to wake up early tomorrow.

My First Car: Perodua Kembara CT Aero

Today is 10th of March 2006. I have finally collected my Kembara. It is a CT Aero Model and the colour is Estetika Purple.

Why did I go for the colour purple you might say? Well, being me, I like to be different and I have never notice that model on the road before. Why should I drive a regular car when I can get something unique. Besides that, the other only available option was black. Something I would not go for or recommend for our nasty weather. The purple is unnoticeable under bright sunlight and camouflages as a little silverish. I will be posting up a picture of the car or even maybe a short video soon.

If you know me for a while now, you might question why did I get a Kembara when I have been driving a Kembara all along. The answer is “Why Fix It If It Ain’t Broke?. I hope that satisfies your curiosity.

I am very excited as this is officially my first car that I bought with my own money and certainly not going to be my only. The next thing that I am aiming for is a house within the next year or so. Wish me luck on that.

I did not have much time to mess around with the car yet but I should have all the time in the world for my dispense as the car is mine well not officially until the loan with the bank is finished.

That’s all folks, till next time…. Take care of yourself.

Click For Charity

I would like to increase the awareness of the difference any one person can make.

There is a group of sites where you can click and based on the number of clicks generated, the sponsors will make a donation of an agreed sum per click to a worthy cause. Check out the links below of the article for some of the sites.

I was a bit skeptical when I came across this site some years back ago. After some research, I found the site to be legitimate from references and recommendations by various reputable organizations and internet personalities.

The site also has a daily statistics report on the amount of clicks generated and what the money has been used for. There is a limit of per click per user per day. However, if you and your partner are sharing the same computer, there is no use of clicking once each as the mechanism uses ip to detect users. If you are sharing your internet connection, most likely your internet ip is the same.

If you have some time to spare, just visit some of the sites below and make a difference. - Click To Feed The Hungry - Women's Health - Fund Children's Health - Fund Books For Kids - Save Endangered Land - Fund Animal Shelter

Feel free to copy this blog post and modify it for your own use on your own blog or newsletter. Spread the word and create the awareness.

Complaining To Astro

I just received a phone call from Astro earlier today regarding my complaint about never receiving my Astro Magazine. (For those unfamiliar with Astro, it is a satelite TV provider in Malaysia) It is not the first time this has happen. I have never seen my Astro Guide since November 2005. I would of course be unhappy for not receiving something that I have paid for. Plus, I have a clean record with them paying all my bills on time. I am just puzzled why the bill can always arrive on time but not the guide?

If you are facing the same problem and have tried countless of times being put on hold by the call center, why not put a complaint online. They will usually response within 3 working days by calling you allowing you to save your phone bill as well.

For those out there who are still struggling to get hold of the customer support by phone, why not make a complain through their website.

All you need to make an online complain is your account number, subscriber’s full name and contact number. Leave your online feedback by visiting their website and going to the contact us page. I will place the link below but if it does change, just visit Astro’s main site and look for a button or link that says contact us.

Plus, we seldom give compliments when we receive a good service. So, if experience and exceptionally good service, do send them some feedback as well.

UK Magazine Trial Subscriptions

I started a blog ( on blogger recently dedicated in listing trial subscription offers that often has free gifts with it. We as consumers should take advantage of such offers.

This was my first post on that blog explaining its purpose:

Magazine publishers use several ways to promote their magazine to increase their subscription base. They often offer trial subscriptions with free gifts in hopes that the subscribers would try out their magazine and stay with them. We as smart consumers can take advantage of such offers by signing up and then cancelling it before the next payment is due. As a result, we would receive a far more valuable free gift than our investment plus the magazine all delivered for free to our doorsteps. On the other hand, if you like the magazine, you can continue to subscribe it at cheaper than newsagent rates.

In simpler terms:

Publisher Aim

- To get more customers to stay hooked up with their magazine by hoping that they do not cancel their direct debit or subscription.
- To get a wider readership, distribution and higher statistics for their company to charge higher rates to advertisers.

Our Aim

- To grab free gifts from every trial subscription there is and uses it personally or as gifts and cancelling it at the end of the trial period.
- Repeating the above steps over and over again and enjoy it.

What Will This Blog Do?

We aim to teach you the tricks of the trade with some tips and search the web for the latest subscription offers there is and list them here. We will put up instructions on what you will need to subscribe and how to cancel your subscriptions.

Well, as a bonus for reading my blog, here are a few links to fantastic offers that I will soon be posting on that blog:

3 issues of Men’s Fitness for £1

6 Issues of Auto Express for £1

You may cancel your subscription and keep the free gift which usually worths more than what you have invested. Most of my listed offers can be cancelled online after your receiving your last issue using the username and password assigned to you after your initial registration. The good thing about being able to cancel online is that you do not need to waste your phone bill by being put on hold for ages waiting to speak to an operator or postage costs on sending a letter that they may deny receiving. If you do like the magazines, you will enjoy subscribing it at a much lower news agent rates.

I will indeed be posting more offers in the future but this is what I intend to list for the moment.

Corinne Bailey Rae

Nowadays it is hard to fall in love with a tune from the first time you hear it.

I stumbled upon a video on Channel V while channel browsing. The song was “Put Your Record On from Corinne Bailey Rae. That song immediately warms my heart and I fell in love with it even before listening to the whole song.

She certainly has the voice and a star presence. It is certainly nice to see such an artist appearing at times when quality music has become something very rare. Her sound is very unique and is a definitely must listen to. She has just released her debut album on 27 Feb 2006.

Well, here is a live performance of “Put Your Record On. I hope you enjoy it and understand what I mean with great music.

Two Weeks Adventure

It is 6.51 am in the morning local Malaysian time. I woke up at 4.30 this morning, something I rarely do. It was because it was the day for my friend to leave for the UK. That is one of the main reason I have been busy for the pass two weeks. What was suppose to be just a visit by my friend turned out to be one interesting event that would see me going to Singapore and staying in a budget hotel known as Hotel 81 Palace at Geylang Road. For those unfamiliar with Geylang in Singapore, it is famous for prostitution. But what the heck, I always wanted to do something spontaneous.

However, it has been a tiring two weeks that made me fall sick at the end of it with severe sun burns and tanned skin. Whatever it is, no regrets.

Being able to travel has always been something I enjoy a lot. Well, let me have a word or two about Singapore. Singapore is a small island country just south of Malaysia. Singapore which is also known as Singapura came from the word Singa and Pura which in Sanskrit means Lion and City. The lion part of the name came about after Stamford Raffles apparently seeing a Lion upon landing at Singapore.

I have always wanted to go to see the Merlion and Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City which I was fortunate enough to do so. I might have seen the Merlion when I was younger but could not recall. I also had time to visit West Coast beach and Sentosa Island. After spending 4 days in Singapore, I came back by the Konsortium coach that brought me to Pudu Raya where my sister picked me up.

I spent a day in KL sight seeing and clubbing at night before heading to Genting and staying at First World the day after. I experience the new 4D motion master for the first time and watched Pink Panther as well. I headed home for Penang the next day from the bus terminal in First World.

We spent the remaining days visiting tourist spots and shopping. Finally, what seems like forever had come to an end.

Well, that’s all for the moment. I am planning to write a few reviews about the movies I watched like Pink Panther and Casanova but there are no promises.

My Family

I received this e-mail from one of my mate. The funny thing is that I usually ignore such mails and just delete them. But this was different, it had the subject of the thing that is most important to me, My family.

Here I have the same poem that was sent to me. I did not write it, so don't give me credit for it, I am just sharing the poem. May god bless the person who wrote the lovely poem and I hope that it will make an impact on you like what it had made on me.

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think? So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

Reading all of the stuff sent in the e-mail really had a big impact on me, I am starting to miss my family back home. I think I will arrange to go back later in summer. I never really ever taught about how my family feels at times. I put too much ahead of my family.

Never take your loved ones for granted. You may never know until its too late. Don't live to regret.

My conclusion is Family First!

I hope this helps! Please share this lovely poem with your friends and family. It might change a person.

Take care.

Letter To Grandma

This was the letter I wrote to participate in the Education UK letter to home competition way back in 2004. I did not win but here I am sharing it with all of you.

Entry No: 2004/1879

This is the letter I wrote to enter the British Council Competition but did not win. The competition is held annually and further information is available at The competition requires you to write a letter home and explaining how you are making the best of your time in the UK.

Greetings Grandma,

How are things getting on? It has been exactly 5 months since I left home. I am getting along well. Life here is amazing and much better than what I had in mind. I have made lots of friends from all corners of the world. This is because there are many international students in the United Kingdom which further proofs that it is a destination for high quality education. Besides being a good place to study, it is also a great place to have fun with so much things and activities to do. Life is never dull or boring here.

I am doing very well with my studies. I have chosen to undertake a Robotics Project for my Systems Design unit. My project has received great encouragement from my tutors and lecturers. I am very sure that I will do well if I go ahead and maintain it on the right track with proper guidance.

You do not have to worry about me losing my roots because there are many Chinese students here. I do mix with them a lot and have improved my Mandarin like you always wished that I would. You must be surprised that I could do so in the UK.

How was Chinese New Year? I had a fabulous one. There was a massive celebration in Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and Leicester Square that was fully decorated with lanterns and banners for the occasion. Thousands of people filled up Trafalgar Square where the main performances were which was followed by Chinese Firecrackers in Leicester Square. I ended the day by having late lunch together with my friends in Chinatown. I had never had such a Chinese New Year celebration before which I believe can only be experienced in London.

Although I wasn’t at home for the reunion dinner, I had one with my friends. We tried to keep the dinner as traditional as possible with a serving of “Yee Sang and Steamboat. We invited most of our European friends and they did enjoy it and were very interested in learning more about our culture. In return, we also learned more about their culture and country.

It snowed in London on Wednesday, January 28 when I just got back from lectures. It was great to see the snow for the first time in my life. I had a snow fight with my friends and other students living in the Halls of Residence. There was not enough snow to make a snowman but it was nice to see most of the places covered with a beautiful layer of white snow.

I spend most of my free time traveling. It is always easy to get around with the efficient public transport available like the tube. It is also an additional bonus to be in Central London where most popular tourist destinations are within walking distance. I plan to visit other European countries while I am here. Some of my Greek friends have invited me to visit them during the Easter holidays. I will be able to get discounted tickets for my travel which is something very rare at home.

Last weekend, I took a trip down to Manchester by coach which only costs me £9.00 for a return ticket. You can always get good bargains if you were to book early. I visited the Theatre of Dreams in Manchester which was the Manchester United Stadium in Old Trafford. This has always been my childhood dream to see my favorite football club. I had the opportunity to see the locker room where David Beckham used to change by going on the stadium tour. Adeline will be so jealous when she hears this.

Living here is actually very affordable. Do tell mum that she does not need to send me additional money. The ones I have are sufficient enough to last me till the end of the semester with proper budget planning. I cook most of the time instead of eating out and it is hard to believe that some food items are much cheaper than in Malaysia. A can of red beans only costs 12p in Tesco.

I have taken up a part time job with the University as a student ambassador. This job has given me the opportunity to travel to local schools and talk to them about student life in the University. This has helped me improve my pronunciation and learn more about the school system here. It also makes me more confident and raised my self-esteem while during presentations.

I am also playing badminton every weekend. I have never stopped doing the things that I love since coming here. I get a good workout while meeting new friends.

I would be graduating in July and will be able to start working soon after while most of my friends are still studying. I have never regretted deciding to come to the UK to study when most of my friends opt to study somewhere else. I would not trade my experience for anything else in the world.

I hope to see you, mum and dad during my graduation here. That is the time you will get to experience the UK for yourself instead of reading what I have written down. I have already prepared a list places that you must visit while you are here which includes St Paul’s Cathedral and The London Eye. I am very sure that you will find UK as an amazing place to be in.

That is all for the moment. Do take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

Your grandson,
‘Little’ Benny Ong

I will try again next year and hopefully I am still studying then..

Have A Nice Day!

Galaxy Wide Wrestling Federation

This is yet another review from my archive I wrote back in 2004. I think it is worth sharing.

AVP Poster

Movie Title: Alien VS Predator
Running Time: 1 Hour 27 Minutes
Distributor: 20th Century Fox
Genre: Action/Adventure/Fantasy/Fiction/Thriller/Horror

I was back home in Malaysia and had the privilege to watch this movie in a brand new cinema. My mates invited me for a reunion and what better things to do than meet up for lunch and then head on for a movie. The movie of choice was Alien Versus Predator(AVP). I was skeptical after watching a similar disappointing movie called Freddie VS Jason. Since most of friends voted to watch and majority wins, I had to watch it. Personally, I would have preferred to watch Garfield instead.

Arm myself with a box of popcorn and a large Pepsi, I reluctantly lead the way into the cinema to find it surprisingly crowded. Is this movie that famous? Well, fans of Alien and Predator wouldn’t want to miss this showdown.

Before, I proceed on writing my review, I remembered watching the trailer not too long ago. It said that “No Matter Who Wins, We All Lose. Which was something interesting and to think about. Aliens and Predators have been pictured as worse enemies of mankind in the movie world and how are we going to manage them this time around?

This time around, the cast of the movies are virtually unknown. I have never heard of any of the actors. Here are the cast and credits:

Starring: Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova, Ewen Bremner, Colin Salmon , Tommy Flanagan, Agathe de la Boulaye, Carsten Norgaard, Joseph Rye, Sam Troughton & Tom Woodruff Jr.
Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Producer: Walter Halsey Davis, Gordon Carroll & John Davis
Screenwriter: Paul W.S. Anderson & Shane Salerno
Cinematographer: David Johnson
Executive Producer: Wyck Godfrey & Thomas M. Hammel
Music: Harald Kloser

The movie starts with a satellite belonging to a big corporation suddenly detects something emitting heat buried underground from an Island in Antarctica while looking for crude oil. A graphical scan reveals that it was in the shape of a pyramid and would be one of the greatest archeology find in centuries.

The pyramid seems to be influence by three civilizations and by two major ones which are the Egyptians and the Aztecs. The boss of the company decided to gather the best brains from around the world to assist him in this amazing discovery before anyone else gets there.

After managing to gather a team of experts, they head on to the site and it was located on an abandoned Whale hunting warehouse. It was rumored that the people previously working there suddenly disappeared and was never seen again. They further found an existing hole dug and lead straight into the pyramid. They had already brought equipments to dig the hold which is now useless. (Aww….what a waste of time and effort) They were indeed curious and couldn’t figure out who have done it and what equipment had been used since the pyramid was thousands of feet below.

Without hesitation, the team went in and found themselves in the pyramid where another room led to another. Some fellow members were left in the Sacrifice Chamber to document the findings while the others further explore the pyramids by going deeper and deeper.

The secret of the pyramid is actually a breeding ground for Aliens like how we breed chickens. Thousand of years ago, people were used by the Predators as the feed for the Aliens. Humans in return worship the predators as god. Images of this story were painted all over the walls of the pyramid.

Being unaware that the aliens have started breeding, the humans innocently ventured deeper into the pyramid. Meanwhile, the predators were on their way to battle the Aliens. It is a ritual by these warriors to battle the Aliens for glory. They would then use the acidic blood of the killed alien to mark their forehead and armour. Now, the humans are in big trouble where they are stuck in the middle of the battle. They couldn’t go anywhere because the Predators are coming in while the Aliens are coming out. How are they going to survive? Well, I am not going to spoil the movie for you.

The things I like most about the movie are the Animatronics of the Alien and Predators. They look so realistic. There was a battle scene that I believe was the best highlight of the movie. Check out the moves of the predator fighting the alien. It looks like a game from PS 2. Make a bet with your friend who is going to win before this movie to make it more interesting.

Go and watch the movie just for the sake of the graphics and special effects. Forget the horrible story line. If there is another movie on and you are not a big fan of Creatures from other planets fighting on earth, give this a skip.

My idea of a next VS movie will be Garfield VS Scooby Doo. No joke.
